Hello hello! How is everybody doing? I’m just peachy over here in our studio that now feels like a second home. My first week with AGID has been wonderful in every way! When my professors told me I would gain loads of knowledge while interning, I never expected to be learning this much so quickly!   A lot of my time so far has been spent ordering products and speaking to various representatives of the trade. Luckily, I have done this in past retail jobs so I caught on quickly. It has been so fun to actually look and feel the fabrics and other materials instead of picking them out online like we do at school. It really makes a world of difference when you can hold two physical items up next to each other and really envision the space.

Speaking of envisioning the space, something I observed this week that has changed my aspect of design is how Ashley sees a room and presents it to a client. Throughout my schooling, I have always looked at a space from above. Ashley looks at a room from back to front. Now, why have I always had an aerial view?! We never see a room from above right?! I am very excited to see how this plays a role in my future designs. image (00000005)   Tuesday the 30th was my first “crazy, busy, I need 3 shots of espresso and a glass of wine” kind of day. As opposed to my usual call time of 10:00, I was due at a client’s house at 8:30 (yes I went to Starbucks before, of course!). Meagan and I met our installer, Steve, and he began to hang the draperies and wall art and it really brought the entire space together. Next, I headed over to another clients house to meet the wall paper hanger and electrician to get quotes on a powder bath. This was my first trip to a client’s house all by myself and I officially felt like a real world designer! I even called my best friend on the drive back because I was so excited. Ha! The rest of the day was packed out with more errands and your everyday office tasks, but I won’t bore you guys with all that.   Now let’s put work aside because it is almost Independence Day!! One of my favorite holidays. I mean, who doesn’t love celebrating our great country with sunshine, anything grilled, and my favorite tradition….. Banana Pudding!?! Normally, I stick to 100% homemade ingredients but this one is a bit of a cheat so you can have more time to get your holiday on!

Heavenly Banana Pudding

1.5 boxes Nilla Wafers

3-5 large bananas, sliced

3 cups whole milk

2 small boxes instant FRENCH vanilla pudding (I promise the French makes a difference!)

1 {8 oz.} pkg. cream cheese, softened

1 {14oz.} can sweetened condensed milk

1 {12 oz.} container Cool Whip

Directions: Line the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan with Nilla Wafers. I say the more the merrier but you can adjust yours however you like. Next add the bananas as your second layer. Again, you can add more or less; whatever your little heart desires. Then prepare the pudding with a mixer by combining it with the milk. In a separate bowl, fold together the cream cheese and condensed milk. Once combined, gently fold in the cool whip. You’re almost there! Now, add in the pudding and once all of those silky ribbons of the cream cheese mixture are evenly folded into your pudding, pour all that yummy goodness over the bananas. Lastly, add one more layer of wafers and you are good to go! But take caution! It’s easy to eat the entire pan by yourself.

I hope y’all have a beautiful rest of your week and a very patriotic 4th of July. Make sure you check in next time to follow along with my next installment of the intern diaries. Take care and God Bless! -Erin
