1215 Felder Avenue Renovation

Hi readers!

If you've driven down Felder Avenue in Montgomery lately, you've probably seen this house... and this intriguing little sign!

This is Ashley's newest project! She truly has a vision for this house and has had her eye on it for a few years! If you're unfamiliar with Montgomery, Felder Avenue is full of history- and full of Ashley's work! This will be the third house on this street that she has renovated. As with all of the houses that Ashley has renovated, she designs them all as if she were going to move right in... and she just might! You never know!

Felder Avenue is the home to the F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum which was the residence of F. Scott, Zelda and their daughter, Scottie, from 1931 to 1932. This historic street is also blocks away from the two entertainment districts  in Cloverdale: The A & P Lofts and East Fairview. Both have restaurants and local watering holes inviting the old to meet the new in this historic neighborhood... plus the new house is just a few blocks from PARISH!

To catch you all up, the above picture is what we started with... and below is what has been going on since!

This particular house is known as “the cat lady house” in Cloverdale. It belonged to a precious school teacher who I believe taught art and was the second owner of the house.  The total square footage for this home will be about 2300. It will end up being a 4 bedroom, 2 and a half bath with another room that could be considered a nursery or an office with a small closet. There will also be a fun courtyard space off the kitchen designed by one of our favorite landscape designers-  Amie Brown- to help extend the living space!

Ashley is reusing as much of the original structure and fixtures as possible. The original tub will be re-finished, and we will be reusing all of the old doors and windows! Ashley  found an old claw foot tub for the master bath in Atlanta and Brad McDowell at Bath Innovations will be bringing it back to life! He does a great job with old tubs and sinks.

Messy yards and job sites make us so happy... it means progress!!

A  small street runs at the back of the property and there will be a 2 car garage and storage room  with access from the back street.  This is a major plus for a Cloverdale house! Those of you that are neighbors can testify to this!

The above elevations were done by one of our favorite architects, Jonathan Torode of Pfeffer Torode, to give us a few options for the front of the house.  The middle elevation is of the existing structure and the top and the bottom elevations are showing the proposed "new look".  Which one is your favorite? (We love them all!)

Stay tuned for lots of progress on this fantastic home! We have piles of sketches, floor plans, and finishes to share with you!

Soooo excited for this little house. She needed you. I like the bottom one… a little touch of Dutch.
